Neighbourhood attractions

Brno is the metropolis of Moravia and an important tourist centre for all who want to explore the natural and cultural beauties of the South-Moravian region. To the north of Brno there is the protected area of the Moravian Karst and to the south stretch the Moravian vineyards with their typical wine cellars. The city is surrounded by beautiful mixed forests, which offer many opportunities for tourism and cycling.

Moravian Karst

Moravian Karst is one of the most important karst area of Central Europe. In the area of Moravian Karst, there are more than 1100 caverns and gorges with 4 caves open to public. There are Punkva Caves with their underground river – during the cruise you can see there the bottom of the famous Macocha Abyss. Another cave is Catherine’s Cave with its unique limestone columns. The Balcarka Cave is full of colorful stalactitic decoration. Sloup-Šošůvka Caves are made by huge corridors and underground gorges.

Lednice-Valtice Area

The Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape is a cultural-natural complex of 283,09 km² in the Czech Republic, South Moravian Region. The Lednice-Valtice Area is registered in the list of monuments protected as World Heritage by UNESCO next to another site - Pálava Landscape Protected Area, registered by UNESCO only a few years prior to the nearby Pálava Biosphere Reserve. Such close proximity of two landscape systems protected by UNESCO is world-unique.
